BRAD WRAY WORKSHOP is a Melbourne based furniture design studio founded by Architect, Designer & Maker - Brad Wray.

The studio is available to undertake one-off private commissions & pieces featured on the website are also available to purchase.
Pieces are made to order - enquire within for lead times.

Pieces may be shipped Australia Wide.
I do like to deliver pieces personally when I can.

All furniture pieces are designed by Brad Wray Workshop & made in house or by our team of local collaborators such as wood craftsman - Francis Jerome, Orchard Design & JP Rivaridge.

I like exploring contrasts in somewhat ‘conflicting’ materials - particularly like putting something like concrete which is a ‘wet’ material next to something quite solid like timber.

Concrete also has a surprisingly fragile nature particularly when its 25-30mm thick

I gather inspiration for my work from a series of sources. One of which is architecture. I love the crafted architectural works of Carlos Scarpa, Alvar Aalto & Valerio Olgiati.

Brad is also an award-winning architect & founding director of Melbourne based architecture practice: Branch Studio Architects.

Brad completed his architectural studies at RMIT in 2007 completing a Bachelor of Architecture with first class Honours.

In 2004 Brad studied abroad for a period at the Accademia di Architettura di Mendrisio -Switzerland/Italy. It was during this time and to great delight, Brad was accepted into Swiss master Peter Zumthor`s design atelier. Zumthor`s approach to exploring design was primarily through a series of hand made models that extensively explored the possibilities of materiality & form. This left a lasting impression on Brad`s approach to design.
